My daughter love wearing it. And I was proud of myself...two dresses in two weeks. I can't believe it!

Number 2
I have been busy getting ready for Christmas and sewing all the time. Here it is....dress number 2, in 2 weeks. I have to admit, my Mom helped with this one. But mainly because I had been sewing for six hours and was just to tired to try and fix a mistake...again. And then there were so many layers of fabric to sew through, that my machine had a fit at me. So thank goodness for my Mom. She is the best.

Something a little different
I am so excited to share this that I won't make this long. I took a break from quilting to try a little something different. Bought a simple pattern and had a crazy little trip to Joann's with my daughter.
I started it on Tuesday afternoon and finished it last night. Ok, to be honest I sewed the bow on the front just now, close enough right?
I finished making my very first dress for my daughter!!!
She picked the fabric herself. And can't wait till our friend's Christmas party tomorrow so she can wear it. I can't wait either. I even bought myself a new dress and leggings. Oh one more thing... We bought another fabric for another dress too.
She picked the lolli pop dot fabric too. Wonder if I could get another dress done by Christmas. Hmm, might need some help from my Mom for this one though.
Hope you all have a great weekend!

FNSI
Guess what came in the mail yesterday! This did! My Happy fabric (polka dot one).
I love it! It is perfect with both of the fabrics I need it to go with. And it even goes with my other fabrics really well. And it also has a little pink dot...hehe...I managed to squeeze some pink in. My friend is not a big pink fan but the quilt is for a girl. :) And oh, I must say this is the first moda fabric I have bought (I know that sounds crazy but I have been sewing less than a yr) and it is the nicest, softest thing I have ever felt. Amazing! I think I may have found a new love. Hope all of Moda feels like this one. I for sure will be buying more.
Well my Friday Night Sew-In (FNSI) became a Saturday Night Sew-In. But I got sooo much done. I am excited to see the blocks coming together. I finished 9 blocks that I showed you in a post previously. So all 12 are done. Good thing because I was ready for another color besides blue. Cut my Happy fabric and even started my pinwheel blocks. I only finished one completely but I am happy with how it turned out. What do you think?

Sneak Peek
Basement is finally clean up and things moved away from heater. Yay!! Now I can sew and the kids can play and we can all stay warm.
I have a few sneak peeks of the Hungry Caterpillar quilt I was able begin. Got some of the fabric cut and even got a few blocks done.
I love how they are coming out. Don't you?
Remember that picture I posted with the cream colored fabric? Well I decided that I really couldn't use it in this quilt. So I went looking for new. It is so had to find fabric with a white background, that will match all these crazy colors in this quilt. But thanks to a great lady at my local fabric shop, I was able to hunt down this. It is perfect. I can't wait till it arrives!! Oh the things we do for sewing...I never saw myself ordering one yd of fabric from an online shop (and I only need a fat quarter, a little extra can't hurt). Hehe
Oh and one more picture for you. We have been busy decorating for Christmas. I love this time of year.

Do you love the white? Can you tell that my kids help decorate it? There are very few glass ornaments. Maybe someday.

Link up
It has been a little bit since I posted. We have been sick in this house, and I have not worked on my projects because my things are in the basement and it is freezing down there. I have to move some things away from the baseboard heating before I can turn it on. I hate cleaning when I am sick. Even the kiddos haven't been going down there much.
We have a snow/ice day today, which ended up being a good because my oldest is sick. Poor thing. And of course I have been blog hopping..hehe. My very first follower told me about a Small Blog Meet over at Lily's Quilts so I decided...what the heck, I will join. It is always fun reading new blogs.
And finally.... a few pictures of the fabric I talked about in my last post.

I am so excited about these ones...but not sure I like the fabric all by itself with them. What I really need is a white fabric with small purple print. What do you think?
These ones are my flannels. Going to make two pillow cases and a flat sheet with these.
Boy do I need to get downstairs and clean so I can be warm and work on these things.

Another step
Went to Joann's with my Dad this weekend. Yup, my Dad. He was more than happy to go and buy fabrics with me. I bought a bunch of patterns on sale too. Lots of great sales...I saved $97 dollars...can you believe it?!? I managed to find some perfect fabric for my Very Hungry Caterpillar quilt, except for one. It is a cream color with tiny purple flowers but I am not sure I like it with the white that is in the caterpillar fabric. I will have to take a picture of them and see what you think (if only I could get people to read and comment though). Got some really cute flannels too. My daughter is in a toddler bed since there is no room in the kids room for another twin. She only has one flat sheet to go with it, so some of the flannel with go to making her another along with a cute pillow case. And the other flannel is for my big boy, a pillow case. He loves when his sheets are mix and match.
I better get to cleaning up my sewing space so I can get to working on all these projects I keep talking about. Need to make sure nothing is against the heater down there too. It gets awfully cold in the winter down there. I am so glad I put rug in, instead of tile like the contractor wanted to do.
Till another day....happy sewing!!

Oh so excited!
My Multi Dot Fabric from the Hungry Caterpillar fabric line came in!!! Wow, it seems like it takes for ever to get fabric in the mail... Sorry, I havent taken a picture of it yet. Maybe you will get a sneak peak at the quilt I am using it for another day.
I am so excited about a giveaway that I just entered. It can be found at Judi Madsen's blog, Green Fairy Quilts. I love reading her blog. She is the most amazing quilter! Go check it out, great blog and great giveaway (thanks to her husband...hehe)

Discovery
So it is no surprise I am new to all of this.
I was all excited about making a Hungry Caterpillar themed quilt, and still am, but I was sad to find out that the fabric line is 'old'. It has been a bit difficult to find the patterns I want. Yesterday I got three of them, the multi dot (which I searched and searched for and finally found a website that was not backordered and had the amount I needed), Tossed Caterpillers and Munch, Munch, Munch! I love the grass prints that also go with these but noone around me has anymore and I have yet to find one online shop that has all the colors I want. I need odd amounts (not full yds or even half yds) also. So I have decided rather than ordering from an assortment of online shops and paying all sorts of shipping along with having to order more than I need (that would get expensive!), I will use something from another fabric line. I am really loving batik fabric so I am thinking the rest of the fabric for the quilt will be of that type. We shall see, have to wait for my multi dot fabric to come in. I have never ordered fabric online before. Wonder how long it will take to get here?
I haven't included a picture in a few posts so here is one I just took minutes ago. (Sorry it is not the greatest, I had intended on only putting great pics on here but that doesnt seem to be working. Maybe some day :)

Oh Boy!
Yesterday was an amazing day!!
I awoke feeling truely blessed with great friends. Once getting the boys off to school, I started my usual blog hopping (hehe) and found out I won a giveaway over at Lulu's blog, For the love....! I had to email her to make sure I wasn't crazy. She replied right away and she informed me that I was a no-reply blogger so she could not email me and that she tried to comment on my blog but could not do that either. Oiy!!! Thanks to the link she gave me I was able to fix this and now am no longer a no-reply blogger. And after a little research I was able to fix the fact that noone could comment.
But wait there is more!
A little later in the day...still on my high from last night and winning a beautiful pattern...I logged onto Facebook and saw a post by my friend Tracey. She had decided on a "theme" for her baby's room!! Click here to see! Isn't it beautiful? She won't be buying the quilt, obviously (hehe). I was super excited. And still am. A fabric store near me has a whole line of fabrics to go with it. My imagination began to run wild! This is going to be such a fun quilt to make! I can't wait to go shopping with her to pick out which ones she would like. I am keeping the pattern a secret though.
And still more...
Today, my excitement continues. I got my first comment on my blog!!! Thank you, Camille! She has one of my favorite blogs, Simplify. (Here's hoping that these links work - first time adding links to my post.)
Now if I could just get some followers. Hehe

Friends
I had the time of my life last night. I went out with four of the most amazing ladies I know, Jen, Colleen, Maureen, and Doreen. Everything is so easy with them. We talk, we laugh and we laugh some more. We share things none of us ever really expect to share. We just have plain old fun. No drama, no worries, just plain fun. And for the first time in my life I am truely blessed with a group of friends. Now don't get me wrong, I have had friends over the years, but have never been part of a group like this. They accept me for who I am. Last night was our third time going to dinner and drinks together and we plan on many, many more. A monthly dinner with the ladies. So fun. Here's to many more. And of course there is always room for more...but leave the drama at home! And bring your laugh!
Love you ladies!!!

Fabric
Last post I told you about a yard sale I was going to. Wow! Did she have a lot of fabric. I could have gone crazy...there were so many that I liked. Thank goodness that I am friends with her granddaughter. She invited me to come check out all her fabric in her house one day. There I can lay as much out as I want and buy whatever I want. Anyways...thought I would share with you what I did get. The kids had so much fun picking ones they liked, especially my oldest.
My daughter picked the following fabrics. She found the polka dot one first. It is a flannel. I am thinking I may make a pillow case with the fairy one. I would hate to cut them up.

My little man only picked one. He didn't seem all that interested. I think I will use this one on the backing of his quilt.
Now my oldest, loved picking what he liked. I think if the others weren't there we would have gone through all of it. His first choice was the green. It has a black flower print on it but it is hard to see in the photo. Looking at them all together, I realize that will go really well together. He didn't plan that, I don't think. They will not go with his fabric we already have for his quilt because he has choosen a jungle theme. I am sure he will figure out some project I can use them for.
Can't forget about those fabrics. My oldest also found the spider one and said to me, "Can you make a Halloween quilt with this one?" Wow, I would love to, but I kinda have a long list before I can do that. A boy can dream though, right. I found the orange one myself and thought it would go great together.
I haven't been able to do any more sewing since my last post, so no more blocks to share. Things have been crazy around here, between soccer and football. I dont know how others do it. I have such a hard time finding the time to do it. It seems a lot of ladies are able to work on their projects once their kiddos are in bed, but for me...I am so wiped out, I can barely concentrate. Hmmm, our scedule isn't too crazy this weekend, maybe I can fit some 'Mom Time' in.
I almost forgot!! It's a GIRL!!! My friend is having a girl. I am so excited. Now she just needs to decide on a color scheme for the nursery so I can go pick some amazing fabric for her quilt. That is if she cares that it matches. We shall see.
Till next time - Happy sewing!

An attempt...
At sewing that is. I made two and a half blocks of my little man's quilt. And boy is my wrist/hand sore tonight because of it. Guess it is still too soon. They came out great though. I love them. Now I have a total of four done. Oiy, I need a total of 77!!! I got a long way to go.
The dinosaur one was my first block.
So far the one on the left is my favorite.
And I have news...a good friend of mine is having a baby. This will be number three for her. I am sooo excited for her and her new husband. But this also means that I have two baby quilts to make now. Can't wait to find out what each of my friends are having. I wanna go buy some great fabrics! This hand better heal real soon.
Speaking of buying fabric. A friend of mine is having a yard sale tomorrow and her mother is selling a ton of fabric! I can't wait, I am hoping she has some great stuff! Hmmm, wondering how much money I should bring...

Ho Hum
So I am kind of sad. I had surgery on my wrist last week and have been in this half cast since. Haven't been able to do anything...sew, scrap, even take care of my kiddos. And typing, well that is not fun to do with one hand when you are use to using two.
Nice and swollen, huh.
I am just dying to work on my sons quilt again. I have the blocks all in order. Just need to pin them and sew.
I am also waiting patiently for my best friend to find out if she is having a girl or a boy, so she can pick colors for her nursery and then I can pick colors for her quilt. So many pictures on the abundant number of blogs I have been reading are so inspiring. I can't wait to get going.
Well, bye for now, this typing is not fun.

Quilt #2
So I have begun to cut quilt #2 (for my little man). Although he is not so little anymore. He starts kindergarden on Tues. How time flies. The pattern he chose for his quilt is not big enough for his bed, so I have to make more blocks than it calls for. I hope I figured it out right. I am planning on 77 block. OIY! And we had to buy some more fabric since after going through his stack of fabric he picked out last yr, he decided he didnt want three of them. So this is what was left.
The bottom fabric (red baseball) will be for the binding. I am hoping I have enough.
And so we took another trip to the fabric store. He was so excited and found so many he liked. But he was very clear with which ones were for his quilt. This is what we ended up getting.
Birds, airplanes, dinosaurs, all so him! Not sure why he picked the red, but he said he wanted it. And that is what this quilt is all about. What he wants. I can't wait to see how it turns out. Wednesday, August 24, 2011
Blogging
So I am new to this blog thing, but boy am I addicted. If only I could get some followers. Lol
I can't seem to get enough of reading everyone's blogs. My 'Quilting Blogs' folder in my favorites is rapidly growing. I even click on my favorite ones and then open in a new tab their favs. I know there are thousands out there and I seem to need to read them all. Like I said, I can't get enough. I think part of it is that it takes me into another world. One away from the mess in my house, the chores that need to be done and brings me into a world that wish I was in. One that is full of fun, creativity and time for me! Only me! Kind of selfish I know, but being a mom of three means my family always comes first and thus there rarely is time for me. A girl can dream cant she? I think that is why I am loving Pinterest too. Oh so addicting, and I love it! Maybe when school starts I will be able to get some things done for me. And have a loads of fun with my little girl, just me and her. That should be fun! Shopping, tea parties and more!
And maybe a little time for me...quilting, scrappin', maybe even some other fun things. We shall see.

Sick
Boy, this last week has been aweful. I was sick in bed for most of it. Thank goodness Eric was home to take care of the kiddos, but wish he was able to have more fun on his vacation.
So I promised pictures of the finished quilt. So here they are...
I had sooo much fun making this quilt. And watching Miss Ella check out all the colors made it all worth the time it took. Her mom still can't believe I gave her my first quilt ever, but I truely feel ok about it. I know it will be cherished forever.
On to my next project...my second son's quilt. I can't wait to get it started. But first I must get caught up on all the things around this house that have gone the wayside... Oiy. That will be a project in and of itself. Oh the life of a stay-at-home mom!

Finished and on with the next!
So I have finished my first quilt. If only I haven't been sick for 5 days and stuck in bed, I would have a picture for you and would have given it to the sweetest little girl and her parents already.
My next project with be a quilt for one of my boys. I can't wait to feel better so that I can get some things caught up around the house and start my next project.
Pictures to come soon.

How it all began
Wow, where do I start? I found blogs when googling questions about quilting. Now I am in love, maybe some would say addicted. I have even found pinterest...love it! There are some amazing quilters out there and I am excited that they are so kind to share their love for what they do. I follow some and hopefully will get some to follow me someday. Thank you for all your inspirations!
So here I am...with my own blog, to talk about my quilts (ok, I admit, I only have one - so far), my scrappin', and maybe even a little more.
Back to the quilt. Finished the binding on Sunday and have to sign it still. I think I am going to embroider that. I actually found the rotary cutting fairly easy. I was to afraid to cut more than one layer at a time but I am sure that will come. Piecing it together was a cinch. I love sewing on my new machine that I bought myself on Black Friday. Even found the sewing more satisfying than my scrapbooking because I could see much more progress then I am use to seeing. The rest is when I got scared, and had to google all sorts of questions. Finally got the nerve to tackle it, and the time when Eric (that's the hubby) could watch the kiddos. Made a few mistakes, and learned a lot along the way, but made it through.
So, wanna see it? Here it is...
This is my first block ever... I was so excited.
And here is the rest of them...
I couldn't believe that I had to go and cut them all into triangles after. But I did...and it wasn't all that bad.
The quilt sandwich however, well that was intimidating. But I figured it out. Love spray adhesive by the way! But forgot to take pictures. Then I went back and forth with how to quilt it, meander or straight lines. And after days of debating with myself, Eric suggested I just do straight lines to make it easier for myself. He was so right.
So there is it...my first quilting project. As soon as I sign it I will post pics of the finished quilt. And maybe even a picture of the beautiful little girl it is for (as long as it is ok with her Mom and Dad).

The Beginning
So this is it... I have started... However it is late and I have work in the morning, but I would not have been able to sleep having started my blog and left no post.
